ABOUT US

ABOUT THE MODERN AG ALLIANCE

The Modern Ag Alliance is a diverse coalition, founded by Bayer, that today represents more than 100 agricultural organizations advocating for U.S. farmers’ access to the crop protection tools they need to ensure we have a robust and affordable domestic food supply.

Together with our partners, the Modern Ag Alliance works with federal and state policymakers to advance legislative solutions that ensure consistency in pesticide labeling and continued innovation in farming. Specifically, we emphasize the importance of science-based regulation and the need to reinforce that any pesticide registered with the EPA—and sold under a label consistent with the EPA’s own determinations—is sufficient to satisfy health and safety warning requirements.

Meet the Executive Director

Elizabeth Burns-Thompson serves as the Executive Director of the Modern Ag Alliance, where she leads the Alliance’s efforts to advocate for U.S. farmers’ continued access to essential crop protection tools.

Elizabeth has a multi-faceted skillset and extensive agriculture policy and political experience across the Midwest. Throughout her professional career, she has specialized in helping farmers and rural agricultural businesses sustain their voice in the political process. Her roots run deep in agriculture, having grown up on a family farm in eastern Iowa; she's held roles with the Iowa Farm Bureau and Corn Growers, as well as industry-leading biofuel manufacturers, farm cooperatives, and supporting innovative carbon management technologies.

Elizabeth holds a Juris Doctorate from Drake Law School with a specialization in agricultural law and policy, and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Business and International Agriculture from Iowa State University. She now lives in eastern Nebraska, focusing on farm and rural policy on behalf of farmers across the United States. Outside of her professional and community commitments, Elizabeth enjoys traveling, gardening, and home-improvement projects.

As Executive Director, Elizabeth brings an unwavering commitment to ensuring U.S. agriculture remains a vital pillar of the nation’s economy, innovations, and rural communities for generations to come.
