MAA's Year-in-Review
2025: A Year of Resilience and Momentum for American Agriculture
In a year defined by economic pressure and ongoing uncertainty, the Modern Ag Alliance—representing more than 110 partner organizations—helped deliver much-needed progress for our farmers.
Throughout 2025, American agriculture faced continued headwinds—from tight margins and low commodity prices to extreme weather. While temporary federal relief provided some support, farmers made it clear that short-term fixes are not enough. What they need is long-term certainty that they can continue to access crop protection tools.
That need drove the Alliance’s work this year, and it shaped our coalition's most meaningful advocacy wins to date.
Landmark Legislative Wins for Farmers
Bipartisan legislation in North Dakota and Georgia advanced and ultimately became law, reinforcing that EPA-approved crop protection tools can remain available to farmers under clear, consistent standards.
These outcomes are a testament to the progress that is possible when lawmakers, growers, and ag organizations work together to ensure policymaking remains grounded in science and responsive to the needs of American agriculture.
Engaging in the National & Local Conversations
Over the course of the year, the Alliance joined farmers and agricultural leaders across the country in conversations about the challenges facing modern agriculture, including at the American Farm Bureau Federation Convention, Commodity Classic, Farm Progress Show, and dozens of state-level gatherings.
These conversations extended to Washington as well, where MAA hosted its inaugural fly-in, bringing farmers from across the country to meet directly with federal lawmakers. The message was consistent: growers need long-term certainty—not temporary fixes or years of courtroom debate—to plan for future growing seasons.
More broadly, growers continued to make their voices heard about rising costs, policy uncertainty, and the importance of maintaining access to critical agricultural tools.
Together, these efforts strengthened agriculture’s voice in statehouses, newsrooms, and policy discussions nationwide—ensuring that farmers were not just part of the conversation in 2025, but helping lead it.

Carrying Momentum Into 2026: Delivering Certainty Where Farmers Need It Most
The progress made in 2025 created real momentum—and sharpened the work ahead. In 2026, the Alliance will continue working alongside farmers, agricultural organizations, and policymakers to reinforce science-based policy and protect access to essential crop protection tools.
That effort includes advancing state-level solutions to reinforce science-based standards and provide clarity and certainty for farmers. This work helps prevent a patchwork of conflicting state requirements that undermine predictability and disrupt agricultural operations, while aligning with the standards already used by federal regulators like the EPA.
In parallel, we urge Congress to take a leadership role in reaffirming science-based standards nationwide. Together, these efforts ensure alignment between state and federal policy, protect farmers from regulatory inconsistency, and strengthen a cohesive, science-driven framework across the country.
With a growing coalition aligned around shared priorities, strong relationships in statehouses, and a clear record of results, the Alliance enters the year ahead focused on translating momentum into durable policy outcomes that support farmers and the food system they sustain.
